Personally On my systems at home, I have a root partition that is ext3, everything else is on lvm as a reiserfs partion Why? Because I can boot the root partition from a floppy disk and fix disasters as an ext2 partition but uses ext3 as some protection for unplanned shutdown (power failure), but lvm + reiserfs gives comparable performance but great flexibility in creating and destroying partions (lvm) and ability to on-line resize (reiserfs - increase only - you have to unmount to decrease). Also reiserfs can pack small files into a single block - as I reckon I have loads of these improves utilisation (although actually at the moment I have loads spare in my logical volumes). - -- Alan Chandler [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/agiyuFHxcV2FFoIRAoK5AJ9NnHbNFdXzQTuhgoePIvAOLu/gUACeOVUI C2fd8DP2+kz8P9NG6ynBK3s= =ioiG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
