Your ISP will never solicit your username and password via an e-mail. Either they already know your username and password or they can do what they need to do without knowing your username or password. E-mails such as this are sent out by spammers. They want to know your username and password so they can login as you and send out a bunch of spam under your name, which will presumably be less likely to be blocked than spam sent out from their own id, which is no doubt blacklisted by now. They ask for other identifying information, such as date of birth, etc., so that when you change your password they can call the ISP's help desk, impersonate you, and get the password reset so they can use your account again. In theory, you should report such e-mails to the "Abuse" e-mail address of your ISP. But such e-mails are so common that most ISPs will simply ignore them. The bottom line: NEVER respond to an e-mail from ANYBODY which solicits your userid and password, no matter how legitimate the e-mail seems to be. -- .''`.
