No - that is the point of a live CD, it doesn't touch the HDD. You don't need to have the photorec application anywhere other than in the distro that is in your RAM and then use that to look at your HDD. It would be most unwise to do anything to the HDD. It looks as though you don't understand how a Live CD works. There is a good entry on what a Live CD is in Wikipedia. You could also Google. But, whatever you do, leave your HDD alone until you have sorted the problem out. It would be too easy to make a mistake and overwrite the files that you are trying to salvage.
