I've got a script in /etc/ini.d with this in it,

case "$1" in
        start)
                echo -n "Optimizing /dev/hda performance: "
                hdparm -d1 -q -m16 -u1 -k1 -K1 /dev/hda > /dev/null
                echo "hdparm"

        *)
                ;;
esac

My options are hardcoded into the script, I've got it running on boot. Works
like a charm. You might not want to use the same parameters as me though!

Naitik.
