Hi everybody,
I have installed on a debian unstable an ldap server which acts as a directory server and all works fine (I can log from remoite host using ldap user db and use it with automount ot mount my remote home partitions).
The next step in the configuration is to ad ldap support to standard unix utilities such as passwd and from ther nothing goes right.
If I want to change lionel passwd for example (lionel is only present inthe ldap db), I receive the error message : 'passwd: Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info'.
Another strange fact is that when I log from another computer ( gentoo ) all goes well and the passwd is changed.
I have tried to move my gentoo's pam.d/* files to my debian server but the problem persists and anyway the two distro do not seem to have the same pam.d file (system-auth is not present in debian althought it is in gentoo and many docs on internet talk about its modification to enble ldap capabilities at standard unix utilitites.
soif you know the response to my problemor you can direct me to 'debian ldap docs' ( not the standard doc, it does not work. Well I'll greatly appreciate.
Thanks to All ,julien. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org
