While this may be true under LVM (never used it, don't know) it's certainly not true using fdisk where you have to tell fdisk what size partition to create whether it be primary or extended. If the OP (Aioanei Rares) will post the output of 'fdisk -l /dev/sda' we will have enough information to make an informed suggestion, until then it's all just shooting in the dark.
