I tried this script from cron. But for some reason cups didn't come up
again restart so I had to delete the cron entry. Maybe some kind soul
can tell me why and make me and Jerome happy.

find /var/spool/cups -maxdepth 1 -type f -ctime +7 -exec rm -f {} ';'
/etc/init.d/cupsys restart
...
