Hello Huw, I'm just a newbie, but this has to be something local. I'm running Libranet. I've been off-line for ten months. Coming back on, I do a '-u dist-upgrade' and I get the latest version of KDE running nicely on what was originally a Version 2 distro. I don't see any specific titles in your list, just base packages. I.e., KOffice workspace, KWord, Kontour, Kivio, etc,. But then maybe I'm off track and you didn't mention them. Regards,

Running startx I get the KDE spash screen and the various initializations, I get the Kandalphs (or whatever) tips window, but after that no desktop, blank. CTL-ALT-BS still takes me out.
