I have the correct sound driver module loaded, and the "play" command works when I run it as root. But the KDE Sound Server is silent when I hit the "Test sound" button in the Control Center.
The sound devices, such as /dev/dsp, are permissioned as follows: crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 3 Mar 14 2002 /dev/dsp Early on, before I had the correct sound driver, I clicked something on a dialog that KDE was using to complain that the sound wasn't working. I probably should have just lived with it, because I can't figure out how to fix things now. Any ideas?
