I forgot to say that I work with real time kernels and for 2.6.30 there's no
RT patch released. (http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/ )

However my DVD is not detected at boot with 2.6.31.6, while with 2.6.30-2
debian stock kernel I got these line from dmes
[ 1.808018] hdb: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
[ 2.603128] ide-cd: hdb: ATAPI 40X DVD-ROM DVD-R/RAM CD-R/RW drive,
2048kB Cache

Could it be a udev related problem?
