This is just to publicize the fact that

many gnome packages depend upon devicekit-disks 
devicekit-disks is incompatible with 
dmsetup and therefore lvm2.

If your / is on a lvm2 group you will not be able to boot.

if you have gnome installed and do
apt-get dist-upgrade and don't see the warnings, you will not be able to boot.
