I have two computers both with uptodate Squeeze systems. One can play
videos, the other can't. Both have totem installed.

Given the command totem trial001.mov the one that can't responds

t...@dragon:/data/video$ totmem trial001.mov

** (totem:8648): WARNING **: Failed to create dbus proxy for

t...@dragon:/data/video$ exit

The other system has no trouble with this and plays various videos at
different websites - youtube, etc.

In both systems there is a symbolic link /usr/bin/gnome-settings-daemon
to /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon. In both systems the ownership is
root:root and the permissions are identical.

Any suggestions as to the cause of this problem?

Tom
