Kind of like the system bell which has been removed from Konsole. The current work-around is to install the 'beep' package which is not optimal as that command must be called for each shell completion. After installing Kubuntu Karmic on the other partition, even beep was mute. Turns out the Ubuntu people have now helpfully blacklisted the 'pcspkr' module. Grrrr. I've been around these infernal IBM clones for 20 years now and that beep is burned into my psyche and when the PC doesn't beep I assume something is wrong. - Nate >> -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds.
