Why all the ia32 silliness?
Here: http://news.debian.net/2009/08/06/ia32-libs-and-ia32-libs-gtk-are-back/ you can find some explanation. > How do I get a sane system back that works with synaptic and aptitude > with out removing half my system? I fixed my system by removing ia32-apt-get and all those 32 packages (apt-get --purge remove ia32-apt-get lib32stdc++6 lib32gcc1 etc.). Updated the system and installed the fixed packages (ia32-libs and ia32-libs-gtk). All seem to work fine now. Some packages, like wine, were removed by the process, but I got all back afterwards. I have found that following the sidux forums can give me good tips when somebody messes some packages, for example the ia32-libs situation was discussed lengtly here: http://sidux.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-p-134285.html#134285 - Petteri ps. There is also Debian weather where one can check what is the upgrade situation: http://edos.debian.net/weather -- ___. / \ .___ "Y/|\ | 0 o / /|\Y" '^^V /|\ 'v'^^' -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
