Perhaps there is some information stored in your initrd? If you take a look at /etc/init.d/mdadm, you'll find some places you can check: RUNDIR=/var/run/mdadm DEBIANCONFIG=/etc/default/mdadm -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
