One more time: The only stable version of Scribus today is 1.3.3.13. 1.3.5 is unstable and always will be. 1.3.4 is both unstable and abandoned. The next stable version (after 1.3.3.x) will be 1.40.
Any distribution that defaults to Scribus 1.3.5 for a binary download is in error. When it becomes stable it won't be called 1.3.5 any more but 1.4.0. I post this because lots of folks are coming in to the Scribus list complaining that when they downloaded Scribus from their distro they got 1.3.5, and it is full of bugs. Yes folks, that is what unstable means, buggy. If you have access to Suse, Fedora, Mandriva etc. lists please pass the word. And please make the powers that be know in the debian and debian-derivative world that Scribus 1.3.5 is not for binary download. It is updated nightly for the svn users and definitely not ready for prime time. Never will be with that number.
