Assuming alsa-* packages are installed, you should put this line

options snd-dha-intel model=your_model_here

at the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

have a look at /usr/share/doc/alsa-base/driver/HD-Audio-Models.txt.gz
and look for the model which corresponds to your sound card (chipset).
