No idea why you're having that problem. But just wanted to mention
that it doesn't exist on OOo Write 2.4.1 on my Lenny system. All
formatting is retained during copy-paste.
On the other hand, maybe you can try "Paste Special" (Ctrl+Shift+V)
instead of Paste (Ctrl+V)? See the OOo online help for details (F1).

Trouble is, after logging out and back in again, I am unable to
reproduce the problem. Copies and retains formatting as it should. I
can only assume a temporary glitch.
Thanks for your response. Until such time as it (a) happens again
spontaneously or (b) I can reproduce it, I will consider this closed.
