Looks like it. Or maybe "exim" is installed. Also possible, but

Examine them before installing exim4.
is exim4 a placeholder??

$ dpkg --list |grep exim
rc exim4 4.69-6

ii exim4-base 4.69-9
support files for all Exim MTA (v4) packages
ii exim4-config 4.69-9
configuration for the Exim MTA (v4)
ii exim4-daemon-heavy 4.69-9
Exim MTA (v4) daemon with extended features, including exiscan-a
rc exim4-daemon-light 4.69-6
lightweight Exim MTA (v4) daemon
Yes, but it's used everywhere as the name e.g. etc/init.d/exim4.
There's a small questionnaire for setting it up, which may be a little
confusing to someone new to mail servers. See the tutorial below, or others.
The OP will need a means of collecting mail, since Windows machines do
not run MTAs. IMAP is more useful than POP3, particularly its folders,
and Courier works well. Outlook, Outlook Express and Thunderbird all
speak IMAP. There are quite a few tutorials like this:
http://wiki.edseek.com/howto:exim4_courier
all of which cover slightly different ground.
