-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 It looks like we're going around again for Open Source in Oregon Government. If you live in Oregon, please write to your congresscritters. The author of this bill and the prior one wrote the following to PLUG.
My rep is now the speaker of the house, Karen Minnis (R-Wood Village). I can't wait to vote her out for swollowing the lobbyist line in shooting down the previous open source bill this session. - ----- Forwarded message from Ken Barber <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----- From: Ken Barber <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Eugene Linux Users List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Portland Linux/Unix Group <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Lane Open Source Discussion list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Mid-Willamette Valley Linux Users Group <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-Spam-Score: 0 () USER_AGENT X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.29 (www . roaringpenguin . com / mimedefang) Subject: [PLUG] Second Oregon open source bill scheduled for hearing X-BeenThere: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.11 Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] List-Unsubscribe: <http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug>, <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List-Id: General Linux discussion and assistance <plug.lists.pdxlinux.org> List-Post: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List-Help: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List-Subscribe: <http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug>, <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> List-Archive: <http://lists.pdxlinux.org/pipermail/plug/> X-Original-Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2003 13:31:28 -0700 Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2003 13:31:28 -0700 X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-0.9 required=5.0 tests=KNOWN_MAILING_LIST,USER_AGENT version=2.55 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp) As many of you are already aware, a second Open Source bill has been introduced in the Oregon legislature. Others get the credit for getting this one put in; I've been busy with other, less-worthwhile pursuits. Anyway, the new bill is identical to what my bill would have looked like, after amendments (which was killed before the amendments were considered). It gets a hearing day after tomorrow. We're going to try not to make the same mistakes we made with the first bill. We don't expect anything new from the opposition. Those of you on the other side of the country can listen to the hearing (RealPlayer format) through a link on the Oregon legislature's web site. Please use a search engine to find it; I'm dealing with an unrelated small emergency here.
