ia64 is itanium systems (corporate servers mostly)

And even then, Xeons/Opterons are now powerful enough that systems that we once hosted on Linux/ia64 now are on Linux/amd64.

OpenVMS and certain FP-intensive s/w are now all that really need ia64, and in the case of OVMS, that's only because Compaq sold all of DEC's chip "stuff" to Intel, who, after a contractually-agreed time, stopped enhancing and making Alphas.
