Tried it on a spare ext3 partition that I backed up first. Did a diff after, the defrag corrupted data.

I have been at this for a while (since the early 90's) & I have yet to need to run any kind of defrag utility on any Linux distro.
I did not see what is the reason for you considering this...but I strongly advise against it. If you are having some problem maybe there is another solution.
