Did you read the installation manual? You only really need the netinst.iso CD file. The DVDs are for people who are installing on a computer that will not have internet access. At the command line in your running system, for each DVD: put it into the drive run (as root) # apt-cdrom add This will tell apt about the contents of the CD. The man page says that it cannot be done by hand. Now you can run aptitude and the packages on the DVDs will appear. Assuming that you also have the on-line repositories in your /etc/apt/sources.list, the only difference will be that apt will use the package from the DVD rather than the internet, if they are otherwise the same.
