Screen is a truly great program but this has nothing to do with running
graphical apps using X-forwarding over ssh (which I believe is what you
are doing).  Here is more information on screen:

Use the ServerAliveInterval=30 setting in ~/.ssh/config as suggested
earlier to keep your ssh sessions alive.
