Well, you can't receive mails on the system, but you can receive all system mails, because they are sent via msmtp to your smarthost.

On a Desktop system you normally do not need local email accounts, imho.

I get system emails from cron when ntpdate can't find an ntp server (like when the net link is down), and from apt-listchanges and cron-apt when things go wrong on the other end.
