What distribution are you running? On Sarge I couldn't get syncing with
libusb working. On Lenny I couldn't get friends with the default
infrastructure for it, but it works like a breeze with jpilot: just
select in jpilots preferences on the settings-tab at serial port "usb:"
and enter in the text-field behind it "usb:".

Also in gnome at 'the removable drives and media preferences', tab
'PDA's', I checked the 'Sync Palm(tm) devices when connected' and
entered at 'Command': 'jpilot-sync'. I can sync by just pressing the
sync button and nowdays when my Treo fails to connect, I really have to
check the cable ;-)
