Years ago I was editing a file of about 1.3 million lines in emacs. Removing about 10% of that file made emacs hang on my PC. That is when I started to use vim for that type of work. Vim did not have that problem. So I also use vim and emacs: emacs for programming (ocaml, latex, python) and as email editor and vim for working with logfiles, bash scripts, csv-files and config-files.
