something got half installed in an upgrade the other day, borked apt-get, & i had to remove a bunch of testing stuff which didn't seem necessary. (isn't that always the way?) so i thought i'd reinstalled it all /stable, but my webcam has quit working. it's a philips logitech quickcam pro, & it's been perfectly happy with the pwc module from salliard.org, but... yeah. help, please. highly frustrated over here.
bottom line, /dev/video0 doesn't exist & won't create. but the module loads properly, usb works fine, layer 1's all checked. i even went through the webcam howto, but it's unhelpful. compunction:/root# modprobe pwc pwc: Philips webcam module version 10.0.13 loaded. pwc: Supports Philips PCA645/646, PCVC675/680/690, PCVC720[40]/730/740/750 & PCVC830/840. pwc: Also supports the Askey VC010, various Logitech Quickcams, Samsung MPC-C10 and MPC-C30, pwc: the Creative WebCam 5 & Pro Ex, SOTEC Afina Eye and Visionite VCS-UC300 and VCS-UM100. usbcore: registered new interface driver Philips webcam compunction:/root# ls /dev/video* ls: cannot access /dev/video*: No such file or directory compunction:/root# webcam reading config file: /root/.webcamrc v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory v4l: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory no grabber device available i'm running 2.6.25, but it was working fine before a bunch of broken stuff tried to install. yay apt-get. motion is one of the packages that won't upgrade, & i had to reinstall it to stable. libavutil49 libavformat52 are two more it tried to screw with which don't have stable versions. i'm guessing somewhere in there i accidentally rm'd some stupid 50k thing which is critical, but hell if i can find it. anyhow, thanks in advance for any help. lish [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
