I don't think this is related to web applications and I can think of two reasons: - the Debian version is older then upstream (especially for stable) - the Debian version is more or less modified You don't have to worry about it. If you find a bug it is the maintainers responsibility to check if the bug is Debian specific or upstream and handle accordingly.
