Hello list,

Recently I'm unable to play music from mp3 and movies after a while.
I'm using mpg321 for mp3 and mplayer for movies. Mpg321 hangs after
opening, and refuses to play the file. No error is given, the process
is not ended either.

The same yields for mplayer. But I am able to play movies with the
-nosound switch. The totem player has the same problem. Restarting the
alsa daemon does not solve the problem. Only rebooting does, but that
is not a very attractive solution. Browsing the internet did not give
a useful clue (other than rebooting). Can you give me a clue how to
"repair" the sound without rebooting? Could I have killed a sound process
by accident (using the -9 switch for kill)?

Running mpg321 yields:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/mp3/altan$ mpg321 The_Wedding_Jig.mp3 -v
