# KERNEL=="sda1", SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", {serial}=="X11017714", SYMLINK+="cam" As in a couple of emails previously. I didn't edit the /etc/udev/rules.d/which-one-of-the-18? directly. But used the command as root as above with the various attributes trials. But as I said it choked on the ATTRS of every kind. No point in adding something directly that would not be accepted? Not that I will be doing anything there anyway at this time because it's not required, but which rule? No...... I shouldn't have to edit this manually, not even when the system is testing I don't think. But it's fine now anyway with the uuid in fstab, that should stop any future confusion by the system. Thanks for your, Patricks and Kushal's help. Be well Charlie -- Registered Linux User:- 329524 ********************************************************** Didn't I tell you it was there?
