I think it is Paul that is having simialr problems No this is a fresh install of debian 4.0r2. I have tried last night with a copy of fedora 8 live cd with the same results, so have reinstalled debian. I want to use fixed IP nos and i am having serious difficulty getting this box running properly. Being a new Linux user i have no idea where the problem lies. Could it be my router settings? I have checked them several times and my other computers all seem to connect ok. DHCP is turned off and there is nothing else i can see that would cause problems. So far I have spent 4 days and nights attempting to get this working with no further progress. Would an earlier version on linux be more likely to work for me . I'd prefer NOT to have to go back to windows. <deep breath> Sorry for the rant.
