I agree, if you need to remotely manage other machines, then Konqueror cannot be beat. I use it to manage quite a few servers. Nautilus does not even come close. > 2. I install KDE on new user's machines, but I configure it myself. Gnome, while simpler, seems to do things in unintuitive ways in my opinion. Many new Linux users do not like the menu at the top of the screen, for instance. At least, that is the impression I've gotten after switching 15-20 people's computers over from XP to Fedora/Ubuntu.
