Hello. On a gnome desktop, the cursor no longer indicates, via the spinning industrial wheel, the loading of a program, after pressing a desktop icon such as iceweasel (the cursor's spinning wheel does show up when the cursor is within the iceweasel window, but not when the cursor is simply against the Desktop background while programs are loading.)
The computer is an Etch box, and the one user ("guest") is used by a number of people. The computer is an old, slow, Pentium III; so, programs take a while to load, sometimes. I'm guessing a hidden file, within the guest user directory, got altered, and needs to be either deleted, or changed back. But, I'm not sure which one it may be. Or, I could be wrong, and it's something else. Anyway, if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. Often people, not aware that iceweasel is loading, will keep pressing the mouse button, leading to problems with the numerous prompts for instances of iceweasel to be open that the computer subsequently registers.
