Here is one thread which might be useful: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=185567 Basically the guy upgraded to the latest OS version (Mandrake in his case), along with cdtools and k3b Still, it sounds like hardware problems if you didn't change any config between it working then stopping working.
