Is there a reason why the version of GNU coreutils in debian is so old? Debian has coreutils 6.0, which was released in August 2006, and the latest stable version of coreutils seems to be 6.9, released in March 2007. There's at least one really annoying bug in Debian's version of coreutils that was apparently fixed long ago in the upstream sources.
[I can understand a somewhat relaxed update policy for obscure packages, but coreutils contains perhaps the most commonly used commands on the system!] Thanks, -Miles -- Is it true that nothing can be known?
