I am using unstable with all the packages uptodate. The user is in audio group.
I did
$sudo alsaconf

Even after doing alsconf, no sound modules are loaded. I checked with
$ lsmod | grep snd
and it does not give any results.
When I play a file with mplayer, I get the following.
