Did you try installing using the bf2.4 flavor- in other words type bf2.4 at the boot prompt when booting off the CD? I have an Adaptec 2940U SCSI controller that is working fine. It seems like last time I tried to install off the woody cds, the idepci flavor was the default if you just hit enter at the boot prompt. It is also the only kernel flavor that doesn't support SCSI.
