HI, David selby,

   I have followed your instructions, but the konsole still do not know 
the "export LANG=zh_TW.Big5" and  "env|grep LC" after login.
   I have made a file in ~/.kde/Autostart called open_xcin, is it 
right? Do i need to write something more in this file,  or in other file 
so that the open_xcin file can work. I just make the file and put in the 
directory ~/.kde/Autostart and change the permission to 777. Is it enough.

look in

~/.kde/Autostart

Make a file

#!/bin/sh
export .......
Change its permissions to executable,

This should work
