I filter on the X-Mailing-List header. I'm using MacOS Mail, but I
know you can do this in Thunderbird as well. You may have to add it
as a custom header. The actual rule I'm using is "X-Mailing-List
contains debian-user@lists.debian.org"
Most mailing lists that don't do subject-munging include *some* sort
of unique header you can filter on, although I've run into a few
annoying exceptions.
