It depends, since my TP570 show me 4 devices

/dev/hdc External CR-Rom
/dev/hdc <empty>
I hve put an adaptor on the internal HDD connector
with a cable and put at then and a small adaptor
to connect TWO 2"5 HDD's. It just worked.
