Thanks for your suggestion, but the problem of using OpenOffice is that
it requires too many steps and is quite complex.
They use WorldMerge because it allows to do the work in a few steps and
has a simple interface. It also keeps track of all messages (and
receivers) that have been sent.

That is probably because WorldMerge is a dedicated program for that
purpose. The link to the documentation I pasted in my last reply is
outdated, my version of OpenOffice 2.0.2 does it in less steps, using a
wizard and supports MS Outlook data files. The most recent version is
2.2.1 good luck
