Hi, I've installed Debian Etch and there is this problem: system starts and during boot it pauses for at least one minute trying to setting an "ata2" device.
Dmesg shows: ata2.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xa1) ata2.00: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x4) ata2.00: revalidation failed (errno=-5) ata2.00: limiting speed to UDMA/25 ata2: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs ata2.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xa1) ata2.00: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x4) ata2.00: revalidation failed (errno=-5) ata2: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs ata2.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xa1) ata2.00: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x4) ata2.00: revalidation failed (errno=-5) ata2.00: disabled ata2: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs ATA: abnormal status 0x58 on port 0x177 ata2.01: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x40) ata2.01: revalidation failed (errno=-5) ata2: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs ata2.01: configured for UDMA/33 Vendor: HL-DT-ST Model: DVD-ROM GDR8162B Rev: 0015 Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 05 If on BIOS I set only the SATA controller active (without PATA) the system starts endured but Debian don't tecognize cdrom and dvdrom. The problem has been marked also like bug in the system of tracking of Debian with the number Bug#402533, but it seems there are no solutions yet. Have you some suggestions to solve this problem? Thank you very much. Remigio _______________________- visit www.sacraspina.it -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
