or what? The installer uses it's own configuration, and AFAIK, does not always configure the system the same way that it uses when installing. Therefore, you may need to reconfigure the network manually. 1) Make sure the correct driver for the kernel is loading, most likely this is already installed since you're running in a VM and most likely it is using pretty standard hardware emulation. 2) Check the /etc/network/interfaces file and make sure the definition for the network is correct. Most likely your problem is there. I hope this helps.
