I'm trying to install and make postfix and courier work on my debian
etch stable machine. But after installing, sometimes (as said in an
earlier post) postfix does not install all the files and the other
times courier doesn't install any /etc/courier directory at all,
forget the /etc/pop3d.cnf and other files.

What is going on here?

aptitude search courier* lists the courier-pop and courier-imap as
installed along with the others. Running /etc/init.d/courier-pop start
silently gives no error as if it started. But when trying to telnet to
port 110, telnet fails and ps reports no courier running.

Courier authdaemon, tho installed, does not start and gives error:

/etc/init.d/courier-authdaemon start
Starting Courier authentication services:
authdaemond/usr/sbin/authdaemond: line 16: /etc/courier/authdaemonrc:
No such file or directory

I think it would be better to install from sources? I have a
minimalist system and I thought there shouldn't be anything wrong
since I haven't installed any crap. Is courier broken or something in
Etch?

Regards,
Deboo
