Using a unicode font in xterm this way appears to be working well, provided that you log in through a login manager (gdm, kdm etc.). Try, for example, this command, which lists all installed fonts: fc-list I see Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, whatever characters displayed correctly. Starting xterm with the -fn option does not appear to be working here: xterm -fn 9x14 since '-fn <font>' is overruled by the presence of ~/.Xresources ! However, it stopped working when I started to log in through the console. (To log in through the console, I renamed /etc/rc2.d/S*dm to K*dm, see Debian Reference 8.1.4.) ~/.Xresources is not being read any more, but now ~/.Xdefaults is ! It is not the only X script that is skipped if you don't use a login manager. For example, ~/.Xmodmap, if it exists, is also disregarded. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
