It seems to mount OK.
Then you have no partitions, I think.
About one year ago I formatted a pen drive (mp3 player also)
with mkfs.vfat and the mp3 player would not work.
I did something like mkfs.vfat /dev/sdX
After a lot of tries I thought I had damaged it. I had to format it with
MS/Windows so that it could work again... just a horror tale.
