Dear colleagues: The National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC), Mundo Latino (TV and Video Producing Company) and VIDEOMED (International Contest of Medical, Health and Telemedicine Cinema, Badajoz, Spain) call for the IV International Competition VIDEOMED-CUBA 2007, that will be held on June 4 to 8, at the National Center for Scientific Research of Cuba. This Contest VIDEOMED-CUBA 2007 will boost the production of medical cinema and video, focused on all related to the caring of health. Addressed to the new communication techniques, computing and their relation with medical imaging in a common confluence in telemedicine. Within the frame of the contest the Third Edition of the International Workshop on Scientific Cinema and Video, VIDEOCIENCIAS 2007, will take place and also a course on the making of scientific cinema and video will be taught by Dr. Alessandro Griffini, an outstanding Italian film maker, President of International Association for Media in Science (IAMS) c/o ENEA - Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment, and member of the World Association of Medical and Health Films (WAMHF). Another course on microbial resistance will be taught by outstanding doctors from Cuba: Drs. Rolando Contreras and Estrella Alvarez from the Division of Microbiological Diagnosis of CNIC, Dr. Boris Rodríguez from the Biotechnology Division, also from CNIC and Drs. El Certamen VIDEOMED-CUBA 2007 tiene como objetivos impulsar la producción de cine y video médico, con un enfoque en general a todo lo relacionado con los cuidados para la salud y está dirigido a las nuevas tecnologías de la comunicación, la informática y su relación con la imagen médica en un confluente común en telemedicina.
