You don't need Samba to use the Etch box as a DNS / DHCP server, at
least not if you're using fixed IP addresses (or DHCP with address
reservations by MAC addresses) on the LAN. If you aren't, you'll need
some way to get the hostname / IP pairs into the DNS server.
