OK, with those changes in place, I now get: (EE) xf86OpenSerial: Cannot open device /dev/input/mice (EE) Configured Mouse: cannot open input device (EE) PreInit failed for input device "Configured Mouse" I have tried every combination of /dev/*anythinglikeamouse*, all to no avail.
